The world’s increasingly scarce phosphorus resources and the problem of water pollution caused by animal excretion of phosphorus are expecting the emergence of high-quality and water-soluble phosphorus source products, and this demand trend has developed rapidly in Europe and the United States in recent years. Feed grade Mono-Dicalcium Phosphate (MDCP) has become an upgraded product of feed calcium monophosphate due to its high absorption rate, conservation, environmental protection, and convenient use.
The eutectic combination of Dicalcium Phosphate (CaHPO4·2H20) and Mono Calcium Phosphate (Ca (H2PO4)2·H2O), commonly known as MDCP, is a kind of highly efficient and low-pollution phosphorus and calcium supplement for animal feeding. The main components of feed-grade Mono-Dicalcium Phosphate are Ca(H2PO4)2·H2O and CaHPO4·2H2O. The total phosphorus content is about 21%, and the water-soluble phosphorus of the product is more than 10%, which is slightly acidic. When heated to about 80℃, the crystal water is gradually lost, and the appearance is white powder or particle. Mono-Dicalcium Phosphate is a mixture of calcium hydrogen phosphate and calcium dihydrogen phosphate. Different manufacturers have different proportions of calcium hydrogen phosphate and calcium dihydrogen phosphate in the final products according to different production processes. Due to the different proportions of Mono Calcium Phosphate in the Mono-Dicalcium Phosphate, its application effect and the content of water-soluble phosphorus in the product are affected.
Feed phosphate is a nutritive animal feed additive, used to feed poultry, livestock, aquatic fish, and shrimp. It can participate in and promote the metabolism of animals, and the composition of hormones, enzymes, and vitamins, so that the growth and development of animals, meat, eggs, and milk production increase, but also can prevent and reduce disease. At present, the feed phosphates used as feed additives are tricalcium phosphate (TCP), calcium hydrogen phosphate (DCP), calcium dihydrogen phosphate (MCP), and calcium dihydro phosphate (MDCP). In addition, there is some special feed phosphate, and their market usage is relatively small, such as feed mono-ammonium phosphate (MAP) diammonium phosphate (DAP) calcium magnesium phosphate, urea phosphate, and so on.
