β-mannan and its derivatives have a strong hindering effect on the absorption of nutrients in feed, leading to different degrees of diarrhea in animals, which eventually affects the growth and feed utilization of livestock and poultry. β-mannan’s anti-nutritional effect not only lies in its own ability to dissolve in water to form the viscosity of gel, thus increasing the viscosity of surimi, reducing the contact between digestive enzymes and various nutrients in animals, and slowing down the intestinal absorption of nutrients. absorption. In addition, β-mannan can cause an excessive immune response in animals during stress or disease, affect the absorption of glucose in the small intestine, interfere with carbohydrate metabolism and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) secretion, and thus inhibit animal growth.
β-Mannanase is an endohydrolase that hydrolyzes 1,4-beta-D-mannopyranose as the main chain. The acting substrates are mainly galactomannan, glucomannan, galacto-glucomannan, and mannan, and the main products are oligosaccharides containing 2-10 residues. It can disrupt the cell wall structure of plant feeds, reduce the viscosity of the digestive tract contents, and promote the digestion and absorption of energy, protein, and cellulose. β-mannanase can also eliminate the interference of glucose absorption by mannans in feeds and greatly improve the energy digestibility of soybean meal. The mannan oligosaccharide produced by the hydrolysis of mannan can be absorbed by the beneficial bacteria in the animal’s intestinal tract, improving the composition of the flora and reducing the infection of E. coli and Salmonella.
Feed enzymes are produced by microbial fermentation and are added to feed to improve digestion and utilization of feed or improve metabolic efficiency in animals. Enzyme preparations are divided into three main categories:
Non-starch polysaccharidases
Non-starch polysaccharide enzymes include xylanase, β-glucanase, β-mannanase, cellulase, α-galactosidase, pectinase, etc., which act on the corresponding NSP in the feed. livestock and poultry do not secrete this type of enzyme and must be added exogenously from the feed, which is the main enzyme preparation for feeding.
Phytase
